Payment

For direct pay/cash paying patients, payment is due at the time of service. Depending on your insurance provider, your telepsychiatry visits may qualify for reimbursement.

Cancellation Policy

You need to give 24-hours notice of cancellation to avoid a $75 fee that will be charged to your credit card on file. We appreciate notice of 48-hours or more when possible. You may cancel and reschedule appointments using our online patient portal hosted on Intake Q. We make exceptions for true emergencies (family and medical). 

Late Arrival and No-Shows to Appointments

If we do not have communication from you within 15 minutes from the start of your scheduled appointment, your appointment will be canceled and the $75 no-show charge will be applied to your credit card on file.

Refills

Refill requests need to be submitted via the patient portal. Refills will be processed within 48 hours of submission.

Communication and Phone Calls

Email is my preferred and fastest mode of communication: dr.maurer@preferredpsychiatry.com. I will return current patient communications within 48 business hours. All emails are HIPPA compliant. 

You may also reach me by phone at 801-477-6822. Calls under five minutes are free of charge. Calls longer than five minutes may incur $50 for every additional 15 minutes.

Controlled Substances

I only prescribe controlled substances if I am your only prescriber for these medications.  Patients must be seen every 90 days at minimum for controlled substance prescriptions. 

Emergencies

In the case of an emergency—such as having thoughts about harming yourself or others—please call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room. You may also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), which is a confidential hotline staffed by trained mental health counselors 24/7.
